Women’s Bible Study – 1 Samuel “The King We Need”

“Only fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things He has done for you.” 1 Samuel 12:24

This year we are studying 1 Samuel. 1 Samuel is the story of God’s people, our people, clamoring for a king. God answers their cries and all of the kings He provides even those who seem to be the best are deeply flawed, as we are all flawed. All of these kings point us to the future coming perfect King of Kings, Jesus! This study will cover topics of God’s sovereignty and faithfulness, friendship, courage, obedience and more. Along the way we meet Hannah whose hearts desire is to have a child. We witness God’s faithfulness to a young David in battle against a powerful Goliath. We explore the gift of friendship in Jonathan and David. Throughout, we witness a loving, gracious God who works through people (even though they are sinful) to work out His plan for our salvation. 1 Samuel has rich application for our lives.

As we work through 1 Samuel we will be dedicating ourselves to praying for each other as well as applying God’s Word to our lives. We will have our studies on Tuesday mornings and on Wednesday evenings. The format of time in Bible study will be a short teaching focused application of the scripture to our lives as well as time in a small group to discuss and pray through God’s Word. Childcare is provided but we need to plan for your little ones. Please register ASAP. Tuesday morning studies begin September 17th and Wednesday evening studies begin on September 18th and will continue until May.

Some of you may be in a season where joining us on Tuesday mornings or on Wednesday evenings doesn’t work. Some of you may be meeting with a group of women on your own. If you or your group would like to study 1 Samuel as well, we will have the recorded large group lessons in applying 1 Samuel available with the book for independent study.
