Dear SPC Family,
Join us for the 8:30 AM service (Inside) and 11:00 AM service (Outside).
The weather outside for this Sunday’s 11:00 AM service is forecast to be a balmy 68 degrees with no rain in sight. The deacons will set up the Buford Road Parking Lot for those who will be sitting in chairs on the pavement next to the church building.
Our 8:30 AM service will be live-streamed on our website and the recording will be available throughout Sunday. Our 11:00 AM service will offer an FM broadcast on rainy days for those who wish to stay in their cars. Although our 11:00 AM service will remain outdoors, you are welcome to worship indoors in the sanctuary. Masks are required. Please enter through the front Education Wing door. Please exercise extra caution whenever driving in the parking lot on Sunday mornings.
Please note that Nursery is now open for birth through 3 years old at 8:30 AM in Room 105 and 11:00 AM in Rooms 103 and 109. Registration is required as space is limited. We do not yet have nursery during the Sunday School hour.
Children’s Sunday School will meet indoors (and upstairs) in Room 206 and the Youth Room this Sunday at 9:45-10:45 AM. There will be a children’s sermon in both the 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM service. Children’s worship will follow the children’s sermon in BOTH the 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM services. (The worship leader will announce where to pick up your children, depending on the weather.)
Adult Sunday School will continue with our study in Ezra-Nehemiah this Sunday 9:50-10:45 AM. Please register if you intend to attend in person in the Fellowship Hall. We will also be broadcasting the class online. The link for the broadcast is below. The passage for study will be Nehemiah 13: “Nehemiah returns to Jerusalem, confronts and restore.” In addition, we will be holding the third of five preparation for membership classes at SPC in Room 102 at 9:45 AM this Sunday, May 9. Please register here. The classes are intended to be interactive and helpful to you no matter at which point you join them.
Our sermon text for this Sunday is from Hebrews 11. We are beginning a new summer series focusing on the practice of faith in God as shown by the heroes of Hebrews 11. This Sunday’s passage will be Hebrews 11:1-3.
We want to continue to stress how important it is not to relax our vigilance even as the number of COVID cases in Virginia seems to be decreasing. If you are feeling unwell, have tested positive or have been close to someone who has – please DO NOT come to church but call us, so that we can make sure you are receiving pastoral care and practical support. We remain committed to providing as safe a worship environment for you as we can.
“May the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you, so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints.” (1 Thess. 3:12-13).
In the assurance of His promises,
Please find the order of worship for both services here.
