- Which strength of yours might become or has become a weakness?
- What does Judges tell us was the source of Samson’s great strength? (Read Judges 13:24-25, 14:6, 19) Is there both accountability and encouragement in knowing that you, despite your own flaws, also have the Spirit of God?
- What does Samson mean in 14:3, “she is right in my eyes”? What does this mean against the wider backdrop of the whole book of Judges?
- Samson thinks nothing of assuming the practices of the unbelieving cultures around him (gambling, revenge, handling dead animals, destroying crops, sexual immorality]. In what ways are you pressured to be squeezed into the world’s mold in your own life?
- Samson’s ‘weapons’ against the Philistines are unconventional to say the least: foxes and a dead donkey’s jawbone! Why do you think God would work through Samson in this way?
- Where do you see glimpses of Christ in this story and what is one thing you will remember as a promise or a warning from it?
