What a fantastic and exciting day! Today the SPC Tokyo 2025 Mission Team and the MTW team at Setagaya Grace Church finally welcomed 35 children, from 1st through 5th grades, to our ‘friendship’ themed Gospel Camp. After much anticipation, preparation, and prayer, putting up the decorations in the hall and seeing the kids start to arrive was almost surreal.
Our first day of camp consisted of songs, Bible lessons, snacks, games, crafts, and more. I got to be in charge of teaching hand motions for the songs to the kids. I looked out from where I was standing and saw so many smiling and excited faces, most unfamiliar with the language they were singing, but eager to participate nonetheless. In a country where less than 1% of the population identifies as a Christian, seeing so many young children so willing and excited to hear about the gospel was so incredibly moving.
Being able to be a part of this project has been an immense blessing. Every activity, interaction, and conversation is a constant reminder of God’s goodness. The difficulties that the team experienced on the way here were reminders that God is always in control, and that He has placed us exactly where He needs us to be. I’m so grateful that He has placed me in Tokyo with this amazing group of people.
