Read Hosea 2
-Explain what has happened in the book so far.
-How does Hosea 2 further help us understand Israel’s running away from God?
-Based on this text, how do idols deceive their worshipers? How do material things distract people from God? What do they promise? In what ways do those promises fail? In what specific ways do these temptations affect you personally?
-How are God’s “hedging with thorns” “building a wall”, etc. actually merciful actions?
-What does God do to woo His people back (vss.14-15) and what is the Valley of Anchor? What does this have to say about the past of the repentant?
-How many times do you see the phrase “I will” in this text? What does that teach us?
-How does the imagery of betrothal (vs.19) deepen our understanding of God’s covenant relationship with His people? Why does God pursue a relationship with sinful people? Explain a time where God has pursued you.
-How does this chapter point us to the greater theme of the entire Bible? How does God’s plan for restoration fit into your life, currently? How can you, specifically, be a part of that in your community and in the world right now?
-Spend some time in praise and prayer for the things you discussed above.
