TANIA M. DIAZ

On Sunday, we had the opportunity to visit a bilingual church in the town of Antigua. It was truly a blessing to worship and receive the teaching of God’s word in a different setting than we are used to. Afterward, we grabbed lunch and enjoyed some free time exploring the town before heading back to our host family’s house around 7:00 PM.

On Monday,  we head back to our ministry sites. A regular day here starts early: we wake up at 5:30 AM, eat breakfast at 6:00 AM, and then walk about a mile to the Students International (SI) base. There, we join the other teams for morning worship, quiet time, and a devotional before heading out to our respective sites around 8:30 AM.

I will be returning to the Education Site with Natalia and Gabriela. Ana, the amazing young lady who leads this site, has been such a blessing to work with. Her deep love for the children and their families is beautiful to witness. One of the ways she shows this love is through house visits, which we will be doing tomorrow morning. In the afternoon, we will be working directly with the kids.

Each of our sessions with the children includes playtime, a devotional, a calendar and weather check-in, and math or reading tutoring. Please pray for Ana as she leads this ministry.

We usually wrap up at the site around 4:00 PM and head back to the SI base for team time and other activities. Afterward, we walk back to our host home for dinner at 6:00 PM. By 9:00 PM, we are usually winding down for bed to rest up for the next day.

Our host, Doña Rafaela, is a devout Catholic who has truly made us feel at home. She sits with us during breakfast and dinner, and we have loved praying with her, talking, and listening to her stories. She has been hosting SI teams for about 16 years! Please pray for her health and that she may continue to grow closer to God’s truth.

We are looking forward to our second week here and can’t wait to share more updates with you.
