A PROJECT OF SAMARITAN’S PURSE
Operation Christmas Child is a project of the international relief organization, Samaritan’s Purse. Its goal is to provide local church partners around the world with gift-filled shoeboxes as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. The shoeboxes are shipped outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease, as well as to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S. There are two ways you can participate:
PACK A SHOE BOX (OR TWO) HERE IN RVA
1. Beginning on October 22, pick up an OCC shoebox and brochure at the OCC table in the main hallway at SPC.
2. Read the brochure for six easy packing steps and gift suggestions.
3. Fill your shoebox and attach the label for boy/girl and age.
4. Return your shoebox to the SPC Welcome Desk or OCC table by Sunday, November 19.
5. Be filled with Great Joy as the Good News of Jesus Christ goes out.
HELP PROCESS, PACK, AND PRAY OVER SHOE BOXES IN CHARLOTTE
On December 7 & 8, SPC’s OCC Mission Team will be in Charlotte, NC, processing shoeboxes before they are sent all over the world. The job is easy: Open box, check for money donations, remove disallowed items, pray, close box and seal. Repeat. Volunteers will be asked to cover the cost of a hotel room (about $100) and meals. Scholarships are available. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old and youth must be accompanied by a parent.
