Afternoon Emergency Food Pantry

Afternoon Emergency Food Pantry

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” Matthew 25:35 – 36

WHAT WE DO & WHY WE DO IT
Jesus taught His followers to demonstrate their faith in Him by loving their neighbors. Our faith and devotion to Him compels us to happily offer food to anyone in need. It is an expression of our love for them as well.  Sometimes those who need emergency food also have other needs – spiritual, as well as practical. When our guests express these other needs, we pray with them and, as we are able, do what we can to serve them. We also invite our guests to worship with us.

A LIGHT SHINING IN THE COVID DARKNESS
About two years ago, while other many other mission projects were beginning to scale back, postpone, or cancel in response to the news of a global pandemic, the SPC Emergency Food Pantry scaled up to serve a growing number of guests and adapted its ways of doing business to try to keep everyone as safe as possible. As waves of shut downs tanked the local economy, business boomed at the Food Pantry and our leaders and their teams demonstrated love, faithfulness, courage, and grace as they prepared for and served up to forty families in Jesus’ name week after week. We thank God for those leaders, their teams, and our guests. We pray that God will continue to use the work and witness of SPC’s Emergency Food Pantry Teams to build and strengthen His Kingdom.
