Today our team was up early (mostly because we are still on EST) to head for Siddipet to have brunch with Pastor Steeven and Dorothy in their lovely home. As you would expect, brunch was delicious and we had a great time getting to know each other better. We then traveled to another small community church to join their regular ministry meeting to widows of the community. Misty gave her testimony and Melinda shared a word of encouragement using the testimonies of the widows in the Bible. We were reminded Naomi, Ruth, and Anna – all who carried great grief, but God still had purpose for their lives. Given the socio-economic state of India, I imagine being a widow in rural India is much like being a widow in Biblical times. We were able to give Bibles, hymn books, and blankets to each dear woman. We prayed a blessing over each woman. There were lots of tears and hugs during this part. I brought the wrong mascara for this trip. 🙂 We served lunch and shared many smiles and more hugs. I will remember meeting with these precious women always and pray for them without ceasing.
Now we travel the couple of hours back in heavy traffic to Hyderabad for dinner and sleep (hopefully).
Additional notes:
1. This part of India is fairly flat and the sky seems bigger here.
2. Animals seen out in the open here…water buffalo, goats, monkeys, camels (like people using them for transportation), lots of different birds and peacocks.
3. Weather here is very similar to Virginia in August. Hot and humid.
