We took a short break from training pastors and their wives to dedicate another water well and to visit an after-school ministry for primary students supported by Global Partners in Peace and Development.

The water well we dedicated was Global Partner’s 700th in India and the $3,000 needed to pay for its installation was donated by SPC. So our participation was a double blessing for us. The well is located just across a narrow road from the church building in a very rural village is Telangana. All of the church and many of their neighbors were there for the celebration, which included a drum line, the tossing of much marigold-petal confetti, the eating of cake, the splashing of water, and lots of smiles and laughter. Micah prayed over the well and vigorously pumped out its first fruits. A wonderful time was had by all.

Our time with the students began with a couple of sweet songs about Jesus and heaven that they sang for us and introductions. I returned by teaching them The Papaya Song. Cindy taught them a lesson about loving God and the people around them by obeying the Ten Commandments. She gave them hand motions to help them remember the moral concepts behind each of the commandments. We played The Cup Game and What’s the Time Mr. Wolf? And, before we left, we enjoyed some candy together. These two hours spent with some of India’s “least advantaged” children, was a project highlight for me. They may be lacking many things by the world’s accounting of things, but in the land of idol-worshippers, they have the real advantage of being taught and encouraged to trust and follow Jesus at an early age.

Ahead of us is two more day of training pastors and wives, and on Saturday, the long journey home. Thank you for praying for us.
