Soo grew up in northern Virginia after immigrating from South Korea in 1972. She graduated from the University of Virginia, where she met her husband, Murphy. Murphy and Soo have five children — Katie, Judah, Elise, Macsen and Mary. Soo retired from Capital One in 2020 where she worked in various IT roles. She joined the church staff in 2024 and hopes to apply her prior work experience and intimate knowledge of the church in serving the congregation.
