A group of people met in the home of Bill and Beth York in the fall of 1966. Their desire was to establish a church which would proclaim God’s Word boldly and, at the same time, address the real needs of the world around them.  The group had no particular leaning about whether to be independent or seek affiliation with a denomination. After several meetings, much prayer and unproductive contacts, it became apparent that the time was not yet right to establish a new church.
