Today the Tokyo 2025 Mission Team and Setagaya Grace Church staff met together at one of their houses. This was great for making and building relationships all around. We prayed for each child who is planning to participate in our Gospel Camp later this week. We practiced sharing our “elevator Gospel pitch” with each other. and later, those on the music team practiced the songs for the Gospel Camp, and finished the day with some great food and hilarious karaoke with Will.
I must admit that while I was very excited to participate in this project, I was fairly intimidated by the abrupt change of lifestyle, inability to read many signs, and fear of breaking some unknown social rule. However, that has been replaced with awe, joy, and immense gratitude both for the opportunity to be here serving God, and for the people He has placed here to help us. Will has been an excellent guide and translator, and everyone else from the church whom we interact with is more than happy to help us in the same way. They have done an excellent job of making us feel comfortable here, despite being halfway across the world in an entirely different culture. I can’t begin to express the gratitude I have for being here, and while I’m savoring each moment, I can’t wait for the Gospel Camp (Thursday through Saturday) to start. I know this will all be a memory in just a few days, but it’s shaping up to be a truly beautiful one.
