KIRA AUSTIN
Today was our second day at English Gospel Camp. I had the opportunity to play the role of Naomi and share the Bible story about my friendship with Ruth. Through the story I shared how Naomi’s faith was renewed and her heart was changed through her friendship with Ruth. As I watched my fellow sisters in Christ minister to the children in the Gospel camp, God reminded me that my friendships also strengthen my faith. I feel so blessed to serve alongside these great women and young ladies. I am encouraged to see them serve with patience, kindness, and grace. Even in our short time here I feel connected to the women serving here in Japan. Despite language differences it is clear that we are all serving the same amazing God.
This evening, it was wonderful to have dinner one-on-one with Jessica (one of our missionaries, mother of five, and VBS leader extraordinaire). In our busy lives as wives, mothers, and employees it can be easy to put friendships on the back burner. Now don’t get me wrong, the guys on our trip have been amazing, but there is something truly special about friendship and communion with other Christian women.
