READ Genesis 3:1-15
- Have you ever made a mistake from which you thought you’d never recover? Spare a thought then for Adam and Eve whose mistake ruined not only their lives but the lives of all humans always.
- What was special about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? What had Eve understood about it?
- What did the Serpent tell her about God’s command regarding the tree? How did he subtly change not only the command but also suggest something about God’s motive in giving it?
- Adam and Eve eat the fruit of the tree. They do not immediately physically die but what has changed and what does it mean?
- The Serpent twists what God has said with half truths and insinuations but Eve explains his role and he is unable to escape God’s accountability. From all that you read here what is encouraging about God’s judgment over the Serpent and Adam and Eve?
- How does this prophecy point to Jesus?
- Give great thanks that Jesus is our champion against all evil, paying for our redemption with His own life.
