SERMON DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Please READ Mark 4:35-41

1. Recall for the group the last time (if ever) you were in a small boat on a pond, or lake, or on the sea. What did you feel at the time about the experience? Were you calm and at peace, or anxious and feeling unsafe, unstable – or something else?

2. Why did the disciples get into the boat? Why was Jesus already in the boat, do you think?

3. When the winds blow suddenly and water is pouring into the boat, compare the disciples’ reactions (seasoned fisherman though they were) with Jesus’s reaction. How do you think He could sleep through such a storm?

4. How does Jesus respond to the disciples’ panic and their apparently negative feelings towards Him at that moment?

5. How does Jesus’s command to the storm demonstrate His control over nature?

6. How do you respond to God in a crisis? How does it influence your reaction to know that God is at peace with you through Christ and in total control of the situation?

7. Pray for anyone you know who is experiencing faith in a storm right now. How can you support them and reassure them that Christ is for them?
