Hello! I just finished our last day at the healthcare site in Cienfuegos. I have really enjoyed my time here at the clinic. In the mornings, we have patients come in. Most people come in general checkups; we take their blood pressure, weight, and height (and blood sugar if the patient is diabetic). Some, however, come in for more serious needs. Last week, we had a man come in with 18 staples in his foot and several pins. A tree fell on his foot, severely damaging it. Brendaliz, who is our site leader, proceeded to clean the foot and remove the staples.

Another highlight has been the Thursday Pregnancy Program. We had seven pregnant ladies come in and Brendaliz talked with them and walked them through the difficulties of the process of giving birth. In this class Brenda talked about contractions and Zac gave a very helpful demonstration. Afterwards we were able to do ultrasounds. Seeing the little babies in the womb was so beautiful and it was amazing to see the little life that God has created.

But my favorite part about being at the clinic has been getting to know the people there and experiencing the medical field in a different culture. I plan to go into medicine ,so  learning all these new things that I will take with me on my path to becoming a doctor has been such a great experience. Getting to know Brendaliz has also been such a blessing. She is such a determined and decisive person!  Growing a relationship with her has been a joy.

Being here in the DR has been such a good experience for me and God has taught me how to have patience, how to adapt to different situations and environments, and how to grow relationships with a diverse spectrum of people.
