We’ve been expecting you!

SPC meets for two worship services every Sunday morning at 8:30 and 11:00 AM. In between our services, we offer classes for all ages. A special Children’s Worship service is offered during both services, for children ages three to six. Nursery is available from 8:30 AM to noon. Whether you’re new to church attendance or Sunday worship has been a lifelong routine, our aim is to welcome you warmly and make you feel at home when you visit.

New to worship? Here’s what to expect

Call to Worship

Most SPC worship services begin with a word of welcome, followed by the reading of a Bible passage in unison. This reading is our Call to Worship.

Praying

When we pray with thanksgiving, we are expressing our love for and dependence on God. As we worship together, you may pray along with our worship leader or speak to God quietly on your own.

Singing

At SPC, we sing a full range of songs that praise God, celebrate His gospel, and express our faith in and love for Him. If you are unfamiliar with a song we are singing, it’s alright to just listen. When you begin to pick up the tune, join in and sing along as you are able.

Giving

Each Sunday in worship, we collect tithes and offerings. As our guest, you are not expected or required to give. But if you want to give in gratitude for God’s goodness to you, please do as you are willing and able.

Children in Worship

We are happy to include children of all ages in worship with their families. To aid their worship, Children’s Bulletins and crayons are available in the back of the sanctuary. Before the sermon, children (ages 3 through 6) are invited to the front of the sanctuary for a Children’s Sermon, and then are taken out for Children’s Worship in another room. Near the end of the service, they are brought back to the sanctuary. Participation is optional. And parents, at their discretion, are welcome to go up for the Children’s Sermon and participate in Children’s Worship with their children.

Scripture Reading / Sermon

God has given us the Bible because He loves us and wants us to know, love, and trust Him. At the heart of worship is a message based on a Bible passage. The preaching explains the text and brings our focus to the gospel of Jesus Christ. As you listen to the sermon, ask God to speak to you through the preaching. If there are things said that are not clear to you, please do not hesitate to go to the preacher after the service, email, or call to ask for clarification.

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

Communion

Two thousand years ago, Jesus commanded his followers to remember his sacrifice on their behalf and his bottomless love for them with a simple meal of bread and wine — the bread to symbolize his body, broken for us, and the wine to symbolize his blood, poured out for the forgiveness of our sins. On the second Sunday of every month, we celebrate this Communion, or Lord’s Table.
