STANDING FIRM: A STUDY IN THE BOOK OF JAMES
James was a disciple and the overseer of the first-century church of Judea for about thirty years. For proclaiming that Jesus was the Son of God and Judge of the world, he was killed in a gathering at the temple. James knew that this world was rejecting Jesus as God’s Son and that the religious leadership of the day felt threatened by those who would claim Jesus as God’s Son. Standing firm in our faith, obedience, and sacrificial love in this faithless, do-your-own-thing, self-centered world is James’ encouragement for us.
