Laying a firm foundation of faith in Jesus as our children begin the journey of life

Helping our children begin the race well by laying a firm foundation for faith in Jesus is one of SPC’s top priorities. We do everything we can to create a safe and secure environment, build relational trust, and teach eternal truth. Jennie Ray, Zac Collins, and many teams of committed adults and teens devote themselves to caring for and encouraging faith in Christ to our kids.

SAFE & SECURE: Your child’s well-being is always our highest priority. Our commitment to caring for your child is described in SPC’s Sexual Abuse Prevention and Response Program.

VOLUNTEER TO HELP: We invite you to participate in the important and exciting work of Children’s Ministry at SPC by completing this Volunteer Application form.

SPC Children’s Ministries

In following Jesus’ teaching, the Stony Point Church Nursery Ministry provides safe, secure, and loving care to infants and toddlers (from birth through 36 months) so their parents are free to participate in worship, discipleship, and fellowship. We love the children by meeting their needs and protecting them from harm. We love parents by caring for their children in a manner worthy of their complete trust.

SPC NURSERY SCHEDULE & LOCATIONS : Nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers – from birth through 36 months – as follows:

  • Room 103: Infants (birth to crawling)
  • Room 105: Toddlers (walkers to 36 months)

  • Room 105: Infants & Toddlers (birth to 3 years old)

  • Room 105: Infants & Toddlers (birth to 3 years old)

More information about our nursery ministry and nursery procedures can be found in the SPC NURSERY HANDBOOK.

Children are always welcome to worship with their families at Stony Point Church. Children’s Worship is designed to help the youngest of them transition from the nursery to the worship service. Each Sunday, after a Children’s Sermon, the three to six year-olds are invited to go with the Children’s Worship Team to Rooms 114 and 116 for a time of singing, Bible lessons, crafts, and getting their wiggles out. Parents are of course welcome to join them (and the kids are welcome to remain with their families too). As the closing hymn begins, the children are led back to the sanctuary to rejoin their families.

FROM 9:45 to 10:45 AM

Children from 2 years old through 5th grade are taught God’s Word using The Gospel Project for Kids and The Gospel Story for Kids. Each is a three-year programs which take children through the whole Bible with a focus on connecting each Bible story to the gospel. The lesson schedules are coordinated so that children of every grade cover the same story on any given Suneay at a level that’s appropriate for them, allowing families to have rich conversation and devotion time. Our gifted teaching teams are relationship oriented and experienced.

Children’s Choir
Wednesdays from 6:00 to 6:30 PM (September through May)
Learning to worship Jesus through music. Children, first through fifth grade, will experience the art of music in the sanctuary with a team of choir leaders.

Kitty CAT Club
Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM (September through May)

Learning the foundational stories and verses in the Bible. Kitty Cat Club – for children age 3 through Kindergarten – has three big goals: Helping kids develop Christian friendships at church, laying a strong foundation for their formation of a Christian world-view, and, most importantly, helping them learn to bring their faith in Jesus to life. Kitty Cat lessons will be supporting the Sunday School lesson for the prior Sunday which is from Gospel Project curriculum. The 3 and 4 year-olds class meets in Room 112. Our Kindergarteners will meet in Room 116.

CAT Club
Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM (September through May)

Building faith in Jesus one answer at a time. Cat Club is one of SPC’s discipleship ministries for children. Cat Club (first through fifth grade) begins with dinner in the Fellowship Hall with the Cat Club teachers. Cat Club has three big goals: Helping kids develop Christian friendships at church, laying a strong foundation for their formation of a Christian world-view, and, most importantly, helping them learn to bring their faith in Jesus to life. Cat Club lessons are based on the New City Catechism. Parents are encouraged to help their children memorize, understand, and live by these truths.
